Neighborhood Reinvestment Appoints Paul Kealey
Director of National Training Institute
Former AmeriCorps, VISTA Training Manager Head Nation's
Most Comprehensive Community Development Training
Washington, DC—Paul D. Kealey, former training manager
for AmeriCorps*VISTA, has been selected to head Neighborhood Reinvestment
Corporation's Training Institute, the nation's most
comprehensive training and education program for private- and
public-sector community development practitioners.
Kealey will be responsible for managing the development and growth
of Neighborhood Reinvestment's training activities. Neighborhood
Reinvestment's Training Institute is held five times a year
in major urban markets, including Oakland, Chicago, Minneapolis,
Washington, Tampa, Atlanta, and Pittsburgh. Approximately 3,500
private- and public-sector community development practitioners
representing large cities and small towns across the country annually
attend the Insititute.
"Paul Kealey brings years of valuable experience in training
management, research, and curriculum development," said Ellen
Lazar, executive director of Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation.
"We are delighted to have him in this important leadership
position and look forward to working closely with him to increase
the substance and appeal of our Training Institute."
Kealey has 15 years of upper-level training and program leadership
and management experience directing and evaluating training, community
development and conservation programs.
Before joining Neighborhood Reinvestment, Kealey served as manager
of training and member support for AmeriCorps*VISTA, Corporation
for National and Community Service. Prior to working for AmeriCorps*VISTA,
Kealey served as Director of Operations, Latin and Caribbean for
the World Wildlife Fund.
Earlier in his career, Kealey served as director of the Peace
Corps Paraguay, deputy director/programming and training officer
for Peace Corps Paraguay and Costa Rica, chief of field operations
for Peace Corps in Washington, DC, Health Education Promoter for
Peace Corps in Guatemala, and corporate training consultant in
Fairfield, Connecticut.
Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation is a public, nonprofit
established by Congress in 1978 to promote urban, suburban, and
rural community revitalization nationwide. The Corporation accomplishes
this goal by providing training, technical assistance, risk evaluation
and strategic funding to expand and maintain the strength of the
NeighborWorks® network.
Founded by the Corporation, the NeighborWorks® network is
comprised of more than 230 nonprofit housing and community development
organizations nationwide serving more than 2,100 communities across
America. In 2001, the network generated nearly $1.4 billion in
total direct investment and helped more than 64,000 low- to moderate-income
families purchase or improve their homes.
