AHC Breaks Ground on Triangle Senior Apartments
May 14, 2003 -- AHC Inc., a NeighborWorks organization
based in Arlington, Virginia, began construction in late April
on an independent living complex for low-income seniors at 18301
Old Triangle Road in Triangle, Virginia. The development consists
of 58 one and two-bedroom rental apartments for residents 55 years
and older.
Fifty-two apartments will be affordable to seniors with incomes
up to 50 percent of the area median income; six units will be
affordable to very low-income seniors at 30 percent of the area
median.
The apartments feature spacious living and dining areas with
full kitchens and baths. All will be handicapped accessible or
adaptable. The building’s exterior will be constructed of
brick and vinyl siding complimented by attractively landscaped
grounds. The complex includes a community room, library, exercise
room and sitting areas. Additional features include an emergency
call system and secured access entry.
Funding for the project comes from a variety of sources: a Community
Development Block Grant from Prince William County; a permanent
mortgage loan from the Virginia Housing Development Authority
(VHDA); and Low Income Housing Tax Credits, also from VHDA.
The project is a joint venture between AHC and Regency Development.
